Strasburg Rail Road

Heritage steam railroad — Strasburg & Lancaster County

Chartered in 1832, the Strasburg Rail Road is the oldest continuously operating railroad in the western hemisphere. Steam locomotives haul wooden coaches 4.5 miles through Lancaster County farmland to Paradise, Pennsylvania.

Railroad Connection

Oldest continuously operating railroad in the western hemisphere (chartered 1832); an active steam railroad and working freight shortline.

Nearly two centuries of continuous operation. Riding behind steam here is not a recreation of history — it is the same railroad, still running.
