General Palmer Hotel

Historic railroad hotel — Durango

An 1898 Victorian hotel one block from the Durango depot, named for General William Jackson Palmer, the founder of the Denver & Rio Grande Railway who platted Durango itself.

Railroad Connection

Named for and built in the era of General William Jackson Palmer, founder of the Denver & Rio Grande Railway; stands steps from the 1882 depot in the railroad's own townsite.

You can hear the morning steam whistle from your room. Staying here puts you in the middle of a town the railroad literally drew on a map.
