Izaak Walton Inn
Historic railroad lodge
Built in 1939 to house Great Northern Railway crews at Essex, Montana, on the southern edge of Glacier National Park. The inn overlooks a working BNSF helper station, and guests can also stay in restored caboose and locomotive cabins.
Railroad Connection
Built by and for the Great Northern Railway; still watches helper locomotives work Marias Pass, with lodging in genuine rail equipment.
Railfans call this one of the best train-watching hotels in America — a working mountain railroad passes the front porch all day.
